Adoption

In addition to the dogs listed below there are another 110 greyhounds waiting to enter the program.

UPDATED 20 July 2008

As a general rule people seem to prefer adopting female greyhounds. Why? We have no idea! Please consider the gorgeous boys on the list as they're just as affectionate, cuddly and lovable and also make wonderful pets.

Goldie

Race Name: West on Goldie Colour: Red Fawn
DOB:31 May 2006 Sex: F

Goldie is a real sweetheart!! She is currently in foster care with another greyhound, a terrier and three cats. She loves the cats - she chases them then licks their ears!! They think this new "cat wash" machine is great fun! Goldie will make a great addition to a family that is looking for a clever girl who is keen to please.

Boris

Race Name: Kakadu Allen Colour: Black
DOB: 14 January 2004 Sex: M

Boris has been itching to get into foster care because he just loves being with people! Boris went to Million Paws Walk and was so excited that he keep his lead tight for the whole 5kms! We were stunned at his stamina! But he's slowed down since then and was chilling out in foster care as an only dog. Now Boris has moved in with another greyhound and he marked his entrance wth a big game of chasey and a swim in the dam! Boris is really affectionate, and would love a home where he'll get endless cuddles!

Ali

Race Name: Crossfire Lady Colour: Brindle
DOB: 8 June 2006 Sex: F

Why this little girl was ever even named to race we don't know as she's just a playful pup who's not interested in chasing anything unless its the cats and small dog she lives with in their favourite game of chasey!! Everyone loves Ali and all of the animals in all of her foster homes (and of course the people) have taken to her instantly! She is a real "puppy" in looks and has that playful puppy behaviour, but still sleeps the best part of the day like most greyhounds! She's also really food motivated so she should be good fun to train! She's also expressed an interest in pursuing a music career given her short lived racing career potential.

Rufus

Race Name: Dr Rufus Colour: Black
DOB: 20 Nov 2000 Sex: M

Rufus is such a gentle old boy. He has been in a home for the last 6 months but due to a change in circumstances Rufus is on the look out for a much better second home! He's a very laid back fellow, but loves a good play like most boys his age. He is very calm, and prefers to have a mate for company for those few moments where he relives his childhood!

Mason

Race Name: Endeavour's Best Colour: Fawn
DOB: 16 November 2003 Sex: M

Mason has just entered foster care, and is living with another greyhound. He is a gorgeous young man who is always happy to see his people! Stay tuned for more details!

Crystal

Race Name: Petite Gem Colour: Blue Fawn
DOB: 18 March 2005 Sex: F

As this is being written; I feel the foster carer curse setting in! Crystal is such a beautiful little girl that before her foster carer had even laid a hand on her she declared that she would probably keep her so she could spoil her rotten! Just like her race name - this little girl is so petite! She is so small its a wonder she ever made the track! She is currently in foster care with a lurcher and if all goes well - they'll be together for the rest of their lives!

Paddy

Race Name: Parto's Pad Colour: Black
DOB: 20 October 2005 Sex: M

Paddy is a real gentleman! He spent some time at Swan TAFE teaching the vet nurse students that greyhounds are the best dogs in the world! The students didn't want Paddy to leave because of his lovely nature! But now he's in foster care as an only dog after spending a few weeks on holiday at Pampered Pooch where he got on famously with the other dogs!

Missy

Race Name: Miss Hornet Colour: White and Fawn
DOB: 10 Feb 2004 Sex: F

Missy spent her first day in foster care at the 2008 Million Paws Walk and what a well behaved girl she was! Missy loves kids, and is currently in foster care as an only dog. She was delighted to see that her new backyard has a big straight patch of grass for her to run up and down on and re-live the days that she spent playing around instead of racing! Missy is social with other dogs, and would make a lovely family pet.

Harry

Race Name: Harry Reltub Colour: Red Brindle
DOB: 16 September 2003 Sex: M

Harry is a lovely tall, lean dog who just loves a big cuddle. He has spent time in foster care with another greyhound and two small children; but now he's an only dog. His first night with his new foster family saw Harry spending the night with a border collie, a cat and a baby - and of course, Harry was a perfect gentleman! Prior to entering foster care Harry visited the beach with his trainers Italian Greyhounds and he had such a good time that he decided to pull the pin on racing and head into full retirement so he could enjoy more fun time!

Billy

Race Name: Brindle Bliss Colour: Brindle
DOB: 2 October 2003 Sex: M

Billy's family has had a change of circumstance, so Billy needs to find a new home. Billy is in foster care with two cats and another greyhound, and he's feeling right at home so we need to move him so we don't lose another foster carer! He is a large dog and he can get boisterous when he's excited so he's better suited to a family with older kids. Billy would also prefer a home where he has a friend to share his days with and he just loves kids!

The following dogs are in their new homes undergoing a Road Test...
Charlie - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Silver Brumby Colour: Light Brindle
DOB: 21 April 2005 Sex: M

Charlie is really cool, calm and collected! He has a very gentle laid back attitude so much so that his first night in foster care saw him lean on the lounge until he had pushed it a metre away and then promptly laid where the couch had been! He shared his first foster home with a chihuhua cross (who didn't like him very much because he's so tall!); but he wasn't too bothered with her. Charlie is now in foster care as an only dog and is looking like becoming a patron of an aged home after he visited the other day and impressed everyone with his gentle attitude.

Harley - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Bundy's Me Dad Colour: Red Brindle
DOB: 21 May 2004 Sex: M

Harley's sister Rosie got a head start in the pet world, but Harley is catching up pretty quickly! He has met lots of other dogs, and is currently sharing his foster home with another greyhound. Harley is a real water baby! He was into every bucket at the Million Paws Walk and on arrival to his new foster home he promptly jumped in the dam and started swimming! Harley is really friendly with other dogs and spent many a play day with his Jack Russell buddy, but he thinks cats are still fair game.

Fred - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Ironstein Colour: Black
DOB: 1 October 2003 Sex: M

Fred is a real sweetheart! Fred went to the MIllion Paws Walk and nearly went home with two King Charles Cavaliers! They had such a good time together that they would would have loved to take Fred home if they had room for him! Fred is a nice solid boy and in his spare time he quite likes to sing! Fred is now in foster care with another greyhound, and his foster dad is so excited to let us know that Fred and his cat are getting along famously!! Fred also starred on Gryehounds WA's Grey Matters! Check him out at http://www.greyhoundswa.com.au/!

Kira - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: DNR Colour: Red Brindle
DOB: 9 April 2007 Sex: F

Kira is currently in foster care with a greyhound and another dog and is getting along famously with them. She is full of energy outside, but once indoors, she's the most placid pup you'll come across. She's totally uninterested in cats, and finds cuddles to be the only thing worth trying to get! Kira would prefer another dog for company and would love to live with a cat.

Sparky - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: First Drop Colour: Blue Brindle
DOB: 16 February 2005 Sex: M

Sparky got himself a new home earlier in the year but a change in family circumstances has seen him back at GAP. But again its a case of the foster carer curse if our sources are correct - this chubby little boy has his foster family so much in love that it's likely he'll be staying there forever!

Walter - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Zedakya Colour: Black
DOB: 11 March 2000 Sex: M

Walter has been a pet for a few years but changing circumstance has resulted in him requiring a new home. He is a gentle laid back fellow who likes all other dogs and his cruisy attitude has made us think he might like cats too. and as it turned ouot - we were right! Pepper and Rosie gave Walter the thumbs up as soon as he got home!

Molly - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: DNR Colour: Brindle
DOB: approx Feb 2006 Sex: F

Molly used to live on a farm until she came to the city to live the posh city life. She's spent time living with a labrador and a maltese X and she went to the Million Paws walk with two little white fluffy dogs. Molly is a very large greyhound, and has that youthful spunk about her! She's pretty laid back, but loves company of other dogs. She's currently in foster care with another greyhound and two horses.

Marshall - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Satin Phoenix Colour: Black
DOB: 11 February 2002 Sex: M

Marshall's a lovely laid back old boy on the surface, but don't be fooled by that calm demeanour - underneath that grey muzzle is a puppy waiting to escape! Marshall's been living with another greyhound for the past year, but with a bub on the way for Mum, there's no more room for Marshall. His playmates for the past year have been a dobermann and a border collie, and he'd be keen to get himself a mate that just wants to hang out and have fun during the day. But Marshall certainly wouldn't refuse a warm, cosy bed to spend most of the day on if the option was available!

Regie - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Lovely Awesome Colour: Red Fawn
DOB: 7 October 2005 Sex: F

Regie is a real little pocket rocket! Her sister, Walker, recently found a home and now its Regie's turn. She spent time in foster care with another greyhound and a heeler X, and has proven to be very playful! However, just like Walker, she is very quickly slipping into the pet lifestyle of lazing around all day! Regie would suit a family that has another playful dog for company. She spent time living with cats, but the cats decided she should look for a retirement home without cats present! Regie has also spent time in foster care with a shih tzu X and another greyhound. She is currently doing some alone time, and is in foster care as an only dog.

Dandy - ADOPTION PENDING

Race Name: Token It Easy Colour: White and Black
DOB: 01 April 2004 Sex: M

Dandy is a really happy chap. He went to the MIllion Paws Walk earlier in the year to check out this whole pet thing. He decided he likes it, so he's now in foster care with another greyhound and two cats. His foster carer reports that he's an absolute angel!!

DOB: 21 February 2004 Sex: M
