From all of the team at Greyhounds As Pets, we wish you and your furry friends a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

The GAP office will be taking a short break between Christmas and New Year with the office closed from Christmas Eve to Tuesday 4th January 2010.
Unique Christmas present ideas from GAP.
The following merchandise is all available from GAP and would make terrific Christmas presents!

    2011 GAP Calendars
This year’s calendar is crammed with over 100 sensational greyhound photos from around Australia and contains heaps of WA hounds that are now much loved pets. They make a great Christmas Present at $22 and are easy to post overseas.

GAP Christmas Cards, Thank you Cards and Gift/Note Cards.
Each pack is $10 and contains ten different card designs and styles. Envelopes are included and the cards are blank inside so you can write your own message.

    Kane goes to the Beach
A kids book about a pet Greyhound Kane and his seaside adventure – this was written by an Australian author who owns a pet greyhound and it is beautifully illustrated with bright cartoon images. Another unique Christmas gift idea for $10.

To order you can either email GAP with your order and credit card details and we’ll post it to you. Or to do the whole lot online go to Dog Kingdom for these and other terrific greyhound related gift ideas.

    Recent Events

    Royal Show

Royal Show was held in late September / October and once again was a sensational avenue for GAP to show the general public just how wonderful our hounds are.

The Show attracted attendances of over 400,000 people and while not all of them visited the GAP marquee it certainly felt like it on some days! GAP had 3 staff, 48 volunteers and 51 dogs attend to man the display during the 8 day period. Thanks for that level of support from the volunteers – what an excellent turnout.

We’ve pretty much sorted through the influx of adoption applications that arise as a result of the Show but the impact of it will continue to filter through for the rest of the year.

    Canning Show

GAP again attended the Canning Show for Saturday and had a great time meeting and greeting the more local crowd and providing the ability for people to personally pat and meet the hounds.

    Coming Events

    GAP Quiz Night

The September newsletter contained an article about a coming GAP Quiz night in November. The date was planned for November but unfortunately that had to be changed as a result of a few other conflicting things.

We have rescheduled the event for Friday 11 February 2011 so that we can have more time to organise a great night.

We will be seeking donations and perhaps even a bit of a hand running the night, so think if you or your work place might be able to donate anything that might be suitable for a prize and if you have any ideas, please send them through to GAP.

So put the date in your diary and more details will be coming through soon.

    Playgroups

    Bunbury Playgroups

The first Bunbury playgroup was held Sunday October 17th, from 3 to 5pm at the Bunbury Speedway. All reports indicate that it was a wonderful afternoon and this was replicated by their second playgroup held on Sunday 28th November.

Unfortunately they’ve been unable to book a specific weekend each month but will certainly be making advance bookings each month so if you’re interested attending please contact either Susan Wells on 0439919165 and/or Jody Golby on 0439971575 to keep abreast of the days and times.

Christmas / New Year Playgroups and Greyhound Walking Groups

With the Festive season approaching and the weather heating up we thought we’d provide you with some advance notice about the schedule of playgroups and Greyhound Walking Groups over this time.

    Details can be found here.

    Heat Policy

With the hotter weather having arrived, we thought we should remind everyone of the heat policy surrounding the playgroups to ensure that we’re taking the best welfare considerations of our hounds into account. You can see details here.
