Greyhounds help future Vet Nurses

Animal studies students from South Metropolitan TAFE are attending our kennel facility in Southern River to complete the work experience section of their study.

During a 12 week program students contribute to our Greyhound Enrichment Program, learning animal handling skills and basic kennel keep.

TAFE student, Brooke Allan, says she learnt a lot about greyhounds from the program and loved the opportunity to involve herself in a rehoming organisation.

“I would like to say a huge that you to GAP for the opportunity to complete my volunteer work for TAFE with such an amazing organisation,” she said.

“I have learnt a lot about greyhounds including steps taken to make sure they are rehomed as safe, happy, home-friendly pets. It’s really inspiring!”

As well as working with our greyhounds, TAFE students also spend time playing with our small assessor dogs (or as we like to call them, our Hero Dogs!) and resident cats.

If you are interested in volunteering at GAP or completing work experience with us, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
