Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) have announced Brittany Taylor as the WA ambassador for the inaugural Greyhounds as Pets (GAP) National Adoption Day (NAD) on April 29, 2018.
Ms Taylor is a strong advocate for greyhound ownership as a part owner in a racing greyhound Black Fusileer and she encourages households looking for a pet to consider adopting a retired greyhound.
“I’m honoured to be asked to be the WA ambassador for the first ever GAP national adoption day,” said Ms Taylor.
“It’s a great initiative from all the national greyhound adoption programs to come together on one day to raise awareness about adopting a retired greyhound.”
“Greyhounds really do make the best pets, they are so laid back and placid, they really are gentle giants.”
Over 60 greyhounds will be looking for their forever home during the adoption day to be held at the GAP facility in Southern River from 11 am – 3 pm.
Adoptions are set at a special price of $75 with staff and volunteers on hand to provide information about the breed, so it’s a great opportunity to learn more about adopting or fostering a greyhound.
Registration to this event is essential via the greyhoundsaspets.com.au website. Members of the public who may be interested in adopting a greyhound or learning more about this beautiful breed are encouraged to fill in the adoption application form on the registration page to make the adoption process faster on the day.
A list of dogs available for adoption will be sent to registered attendees a week before the adoption day to see which dogs are available.
Greyhounds will be divided into four broad categories depending on the home environment they are best suited to. Once people have signed into the facility they are encouraged to go to the station that best meets their needs and meet the greyhounds there to see if it’s love at first sight.
