At Greyhounds as Pets WA (GAPWA) we promote and enable greyhound ownership by connecting behavioural assessed, healthy, and well-matched greyhounds with homes across Western Australia. Whether you live in a rural setting, an apartment in the city, with a family, a partner, or on your own, we work hard to match each dog to the right home, lifestyle, and personality.
Our team is passionate about spreading awareness and busting myths about the breed. Our Pat + Chat events give people the chance to meet greyhounds up close, learn more about the breed, and discover what makes them such amazing and unique companions. We also host regular walks and social events to help grow a supportive, welcoming greyhound community throughout WA.
Through education, training, and ongoing support, GAP is proud to help retired racing greyhounds make the transition from track to forever home.
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) runs the program as part of its commitment to ensuring the best levels of care for greyhounds at all stages of their lives, through investment, education, monitoring and regulation. When a greyhound retires from racing, at any age, RWWA aims for every healthy and behaviourally sound greyhound to be rehomed.
