If you’ve ever dreamed of welcoming a little piece of heaven into your home, Azrael might just be the angel you’ve been waiting for. This gentle boy brings calm, quiet and peaceful-vibes wherever his paws land. He’s wonderfully polite with humans and could share his home with children as young as five. He also could join doggie “siblings” of any size tall or small. Azrael has been assessed as unable to go to a home with cats. Azrael’s only temptation is food. This boy loooves his snacks and will quickly become your best friend if you have some on offer. Azrael can stay home for up to three hours on his own, and possibly even longer with another dog to keep him company (plus a bit of training). Like a typical greyhound one or two 20‑minute walks a day will keep his tail wagging like wings.
If you’re looking for a quiet, loving companion who feels like a blessing in dog form, Azrael might just be the heavenly match sent your way.
Please note applicants with young children will have priority in adopting Azrael.
Azrael Foster Update | Angel looking for his slice of heaven
Azrael has been thriving in foster care and has shown himself to be a calm, gentle and affectionate boy. He’s currently living with a five year old Shih Tzu mix named Libby and the two are getting along beautifully. He has been left with Libby for up to seven hours with no issues and he’s also coped well being completely alone for a few hours. Azrael does prefer to be left with some enrichment, toys or a chew to keep him busy.
His foster humans have told us he is acing so many aspects of pet life! He has done amazingly well with his toilet training and has picked up the household routine quickly, settling beautifully at bedtime. His foster carers describe him as “super cuddly” but that he’s also perfectly happy to hang out on his own when needed.
Azrael has great leash manners and enjoys his walks. He has been social and gentle with all the dogs he has met (both small and tall). Azrael has also handled interactions with children of various ages calmly and politely. He’s not overly playful with kids yet but he’s sweet, steady and calm.
While in foster care he experienced a loud (in the best way) and busy family gathering and took it all in stride. He mostly chose to relax on his bed and quietly supervise the activity around him. As he settles more and continues to build confidence with his foster humans his playful side is beginning to show and he’s starting to initiate more play with them.
All in all, Azrael is a beautifully mannered, cuddly and easy going boy.
To set Azrael up for success, his forever and foster homes would be similar environments, and include;
✅ Canine company of any size or doggie playdates
✅ Lots of yummy food!
✅ All house members five years old or older
