Odie is a friendly, social and happy boy who feels like he’s come straight out of a Sunday funny comic strip. While Garfield might be all about sarcasm and apathy, Odie is the bright, friendly counterpart who is always ready to say hello. This lovable lad could join doggie siblings of any size, from little chihuahuas to towering great danes. Despite his name, Odie has been assessed as unable to go to a home with cats, no feline side characters please! Odie absolutely adores people and greets them with wagging tails and full‑panel enthusiasm. Because of this, he’d prefer a home where everyone is nine years or older. Although younger children could be a great match if they’re confident with large breeds. He can stay home alone for up to six hours as a solo dog. With canine company or ongoing training, that time may be able to extend. Exercise is classic greyhound style. one or two 20‑minute walks a day will keep his tail wagging like comic pages flipping. He also walks beautifully on leash with our volunteers and staff.
Odie has been spending time in foster care and living it up as a solo hound. He has successfully stayed home alone for up to five hours and is making great progress with toilet training. His foster human describes him as “just so sweet” and “He loves people. He is so laid back and chilled. I love just hanging out with him and giving him a pat. Spending time with him is a pure joy.”
He has been an absolute dream to look after, with his foster human saying, “In all my years of owning dogs, I’ve never had one quite as easy as him. He hardly ever barks, he walks beautifully on the lead without pulling, he doesn’t destroy the house, and he’s been incredibly well behaved indoors” Although he does have one cheeky hobby: ‘helping’ with recycling by shredding cardboard!
Happy, social and full of cartoon‑level charm, Odie is a joyful companion ready to bring character into his forever home.
