Q&A with GAP Volunteer Anne

GAP is so grateful for our dedicated volunteers who go above and beyond to love and care for our greyhounds.

We caught up with volunteer Anne who shared her experience volunteering at GAP and why she enjoys it.

  1. How long have you been volunteering at GAP?

I have been a volunteer at GAP for about a year, after I retired from the workforce and I wanted to do some volunteering with animals (my favourite animals are dogs). It wasn’t long before I found an ad for GAP looking for volunteers.

  1. What made you want to volunteer at GAP?

We had lost our 16 year old dog the year before and had decided not to have another due to our ages. But I was missing having a dog and I thought if I go and volunteer I can get my cuddles without actually owning a dog.

  1. What’s your favourite part of volunteering at GAP?

My favourite part of volunteering is all of the cuddles. I also enjoy walking the dogs which is not only good for them but helps to keep me healthy too.

I’ve made some truly lovely friends at GAP and look forward to catching up with them each week too.

  1. Would you recommend volunteering at GAP to others? If so, why?

I would highly recommend volunteering at GAP if you’ve got a little time to give, the dogs will really appreciate it. The volunteers are very friendly and all the staff are very helpful, friendly and caring too.
