Winter is the perfect season to curl up indoors with a furry companion by your side or perhaps pull on the wellies, throw on a coat to explore the green outdoors. Either way, Greyhounds as Pets WA has a perfect companion waiting to join you. And this June the adoption fee has been reduced from $200 to $75.
Adjustable, friendly and cruisy personalities, there’s a Greyhound to suit just about every home. Busy families, city apartment dwellers, retirees enjoying the quiet life (or not!); there’s a greyhound who’d love to be a part of your home.
Many people think of Greyhounds as high-energy breeds who need lots of high-intensity exercise. Not ideal with shorter days, and wet weather! In fact, Greyhounds spend up to 20 hours a day snoozing, most are happy with one or two 20-minute daily walks. Just enough activity to keep you moving when the grey clouds and brisk air aren’t motivating… And you’ll look so chic with a sleek greyhound donning a fashionable raincoat.
All dogs adopted from GAP are vet checked, fully vaccinated, microchipped, sterilised and have had a dental treatment. Each dog also has a behaviour assessment to understand their personalities and match them to the right home.

Applicants eligible for the reduced adoption fee of $75:
Have an existing or place a new application and sign an Adoption or Foster-to-Adopt contract on or before June 30th, or;
Place an application between 1 and 30 June and sign an Adoption or Foster-to-Adopt contract by 31 July. Please note that applicants must be ready to take home their dog by June 30. Any approvals for the discounted rate past this date will be at the discretion of GAP Management.
Hi, I am interested in adopting, but I will love a very young or pupoy as I woul love to do some training for them to be a therapy dog as I work with special kids .

Thank you for your interest in welcome a greyhound into your home. The majority of dogs we have become available are between 2 and 5 years old. We don’t often get puppies or dogs younger than two. Hi, can the greyhound be trained to live with a cat?
Hi Ash, yes, we have successfully rehomed many greyhounds who now live alongside cats. We often have a waiting list for cat tolerant greyhounds and so they find homes without being advertised. If you’d like to submit an application the team will be in contact as soon as a suitable ‘hound is available.

Hi Shona, thanks for your interest in adopting a greyhound! We do have cat tolerant greyhounds become available, but as you’ve mentioned they typically have a waitlist. The length of the waitlist varies as the number of cat tolerant greyhounds and foster carers with cats regularly changes. If you’d like to be considered when a suitable greyhound becomes available, we’d love to receive your application.
